When you create an account and use Simran Karo, we collect the following information:

• Account Information: First name, last name, email address, phone number, and country code provided during registration.
• Profile Photo: If you choose to upload a profile picture, the image is stored on our secure servers.
• Simran Data: Your daily Waheguru Simran counts, which are stored to display your personal stats and leaderboard rankings.
• Device Token: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token to send you optional push notifications.
• Usage Data: Basic app usage information to improve performance and user experience.

We do not collect payment information, precise location data, contacts, or any data unrelated to the app's functionality.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• Account Management: To create and maintain your account, verify your email, and allow you to log in securely.
• Simran Tracking: To record and display your personal Simran count, daily stats, and global rank.
• Leaderboard: Your first name, last name initial, and Simran count may be shown on the public leaderboard to other app users.
• Notifications: To send optional daily reminders, leaderboard updates, and Hukamnama notifications (can be turned off in settings).
• App Improvement: To understand how the app is used and fix bugs or improve features.

We will never use your information for advertising, marketing to third parties, or any purpose not listed above.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

We may share limited information only in these cases:

• Leaderboard: Your display name and Simran count are visible to other users on the in-app leaderboard.
• Firebase (Google): We use Firebase for push notifications. FCM tokens are shared with Firebase only for delivering notifications.
• Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

• Passwords are stored using bcrypt hashing — we cannot see your password.
• Email verification is required to access all features.
• Profile photos are stored in a secure, access-controlled directory.
• Device tokens older than 90 days are automatically deleted.

While we strive to use the best security practices, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong password.

App Permissions

Simran Karo requests the following device permissions:

• INTERNET: Required to sync your Simran count, load Nitnem, Hukamnama, and leaderboard data.
• CAMERA: Used only when you explicitly choose to take a profile photo. Never accessed in the background.
• Photo Picker: We use the Android/iOS system photo picker for profile photo selection. No storage permission is needed or requested.
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS: For optional reminders and Hukamnama notifications. Can be disabled anytime in settings.
• RECORD_AUDIO: Used only if you enable voice Simran mode. Audio is processed on-device and never stored.

All permissions are requested only when needed and explained clearly within the app.

Children's Privacy

Simran Karo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: You can view your account information within the app at any time.
• Update: You can update your name and profile photo from the Profile screen.
• Delete: You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us. We will process your request within 30 days.
• Notifications: You can turn off push notifications from the Profile screen or your device settings at any time.
• Data Portability: You can request a copy of your personal data by contacting us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

For significant changes, we will notify you through the app or via email. Continued use of Simran Karo after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
